NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Launches in July – Compact Power Meets Blackwell Architecture
- 25-06-2025 16:05:25
NVIDIA has officially unveiled the newest and most compact member of the RTX 50-series family — the GeForce RTX 5050. Starting at just $249, this entry-level powerhouse is set to hit shelves in the second half of July, offering next-gen performance at an accessible price point.
Built on Blackwell: Power in a Small Package
The RTX 5050 is based on NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell architecture, featuring the new GB207 GPU die. With 2560 CUDA cores, it packs around two-thirds of the performance muscle of the RTX 5060, which launched earlier this year.
Despite being the most affordable in the series, the RTX 5050 doesn’t hold back on features:
- 5th Generation Tensor Cores for DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation
- 4th Generation RT Cores for real-time ray tracing
- Support for Reflex 2, NVIDIA’s next-gen low-latency gaming technology
Clock Speeds & Memory
The GPU comes clocked at 2.31GHz (base) with boost speeds up to 2.57GHz. It's paired with 8GB of 128-bit GDDR6 memory — the only RTX 50-series card so far not to use GDDR7. That said, it still delivers smooth 1080p gaming performance for most modern titles.
Connectivity & Encoding Power
Connectivity options include:
- 3x DisplayPort 2.1b
- 1x HDMI 2.1b
For creators and streamers, the card includes:
- 9th Gen NVENC encoder
- 6th Gen NVDEC decoder
All of this runs efficiently on 130W of power, with support for both a single 8-pin connector or a PCIe Gen 5 cable (300W+).
Performance Gains: How Does It Stack Up?
While NVIDIA’s official benchmarks leave much to be desired in terms of clarity, the company claims the RTX 5050 is up to 60% faster in rasterization compared to the RTX 3050 — a significant leap considering the 3050 launched over three years ago. Performance seems to hover near RTX 4060 levels, making this card a solid value pick for gamers looking to upgrade from older 30-series GPUs.
Availability
There won’t be a Founders Edition for this card, but all major NVIDIA board partners — including MSI, PNY, and INNO3D — will be bringing their custom models to market. Expect these to land in stores and online retailers by mid-to-late July 2025.
