ADATA Legend 900 Pro : A Value for Money Gen4 for everyone?

ANT PC | 11-03-2026 16:59:35

With storage pricing still on an all-time high globally and workloads growing heavier by the day, selecting the right SSD is no longer about chasing peak numbers alone. Consistency, endurance, controller efficiency, and real-world performance matter far more. PCIe Gen4 has now fully matured, offering an excellent balance between speed, platform compatibility, and cost.

The ADATA Legend 900 Pro is positioned firmly in this sweet spot. Designed for enthusiasts and professionals alike, it promises near-flagship Gen4 performance without the thermal and platform overheads of Gen5 and older Gen4 drives.

At ANT PC, we tested the 1TB variant extensively to see how well it holds up beyond marketing numbers.

Performance and Benchmarks:

CrystalDiskMark:

In CrystalDiskMark, the Legend 900 Pro comfortably reached over 7.1 GB/s sequential read speeds and sustained write speeds between 5.6–5.8 GB/s on the 1TB variant. These figures align well with ADATA’s rated specifications, especially considering the lower write ceiling of the 1TB model versus the higher-capacity variants.

Random performance stood out, with 4K Q32T1 reads exceeding 750 MB/s and writes hovering around 600 MB/s. This translates directly to excellent OS responsiveness, faster application launches, and smooth multitasking.

AS SSD Benchmark:

Chart 5, Chart element

Across 1GB, 3GB, 5GB, and 10GB test sizes, sequential read performance remained consistent at ~5.8–5.9 GB/s. Write speeds stayed stable around 5.1–5.2 GB/s before gradually tapering at higher queue depths, indicating controlled SLC cache behavior rather than abrupt drops.

Access times remained exceptionally low, reinforcing the drive’s suitability for latency-sensitive workloads such as software development, databases, and content creation.

ATTO Disk Benchmark:

ATTO results confirmed sustained throughput with reads peaking around 6.6 GB/s and writes stabilizing near 5.5 GB/s across larger block sizes. Performance curves were smooth and predictable, with no signs of sudden throttling or instability — a strong indicator of efficient controller and firmware tuning.

AJA System Test:

Using 1080i footage, 10-bit YUV codec, and a 1GB test file, the Legend 900 Pro delivered approximately 5.1 GB/s write and 5.7 GB/s read speeds. These results reflect real-world workstation behavior rather than synthetic bursts, confirming the drive’s ability to handle video editing timelines, large media files, and professional workflows reliably.

Conclusion:

The ADATA Legend 900 Pro reinforces why PCIe Gen4 SSDs continue to dominate the high-performance sweet spot. With excellent sequential throughput, strong random I/O, high endurance ratings, and consistent real-world behavior, it delivers the kind of performance that actually translates into everyday productivity gains. Whether it’s gaming load times, heavy multitasking, content creation, or professional workloads involving large datasets, the Legend 900 Pro handles it all with confidence and stability.

At ANT PC, this SSD is already being offered as part of their custom gaming PCs and professional workstations, ensuring users get a well-balanced storage solution that complements high-end CPUs and GPUs without unnecessary compromises. If you’re configuring a new build and want fast, reliable Gen4 storage that holds up under sustained workloads, the ADATA Legend 900 Pro is a solid choice — and even better when paired with ANT PC’s carefully tuned custom systems.
